Data Protection Summary

We comply with all relevant legislation concerning personal data. We keep it secure and only authorised CAB workers have access to it. We do not give, sell or provide access to it to any other organisation or person.

This Privacy Notice has been produced by Christian Action Bristol (‘CAB’ or ‘we’). We hold information about some people (‘data subjects’ in the language of GDPR, or ‘you’), and this document aims to tell you what you may want to know about the information we hold about you. 


About us 

CAB is a group for all Christians in Bristol who are involved or interested in politics or social action. 

The CAB Core Group meets on a regular basis to decide overall direction and policy, including decisions about data storage and processing. This means that, in the language of GDPR, the Core Group is the Data Controller.

What type of information we have 

We currently collect and process the following information:

  • Personal identifiers, contacts and characteristics (for example, name and contact details)

  • Website user stats


How we get the information and why we have it

Most of the personal information we process is provided to us directly by you for one of the following reasons:

  • To sign up for our Newsletter

  • To provide support to a charity, church etc. that you are associated with

We also receive personal information indirectly, from the following sources in the following scenarios:

  • From public sources for CAB to offer support (such as contact details listed on a charity website)

  • Contact details passed on for CAB to offer support

Under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), the lawful bases we rely on for processing this information are:

  • Your consent. You are able to remove your consent at any time. You can do this by contacting christianactionbristol@gmail.com

  • We have a legitimate interest.

What we do with the information we have

We use the information that you have given us in order to:

  • Send you our Newsletter (if you have subscribed)

  • Offer / provide support to a local charity, church etc. that you are associated with (if this is relevant and appropriate)

  • Analyse web analytics

We do not share or sell this information, unless required by law or with your consent. 

How we store your information 

Your information may be stored on a spreadsheet on a secure device, and / or stored on Mailchimp to enable distribution of our Newsletter.

We keep personal contacts details for as long as an individual is signed up to our newsletter, and/or as long as the individual works for a charity / church that is relevant to CAB. If consent is withdrawn, or an individual requests no further contact, their details will be deleted to the extent that we ensure they are not contacted again. We will dispose of information by deleting all relevant entries from our spreadsheets and Mailchimp account.

Your data protection rights

Under data protection law, you have rights including:

Your right of access - You have the right to ask us for copies of your personal information. 

Your right to rectification - You have the right to ask us to rectify information you think is inaccurate. You also have the right to ask us to complete information you think is incomplete. 

Your right to erasure - You have the right to ask us to erase your personal information in certain circumstances. 

Your right to restriction of processing - You have the right to ask us to restrict the processing of your information in certain circumstances. 

Your right to object to processing - You have the the right to object to the processing of your personal data in certain circumstances.

Your right to data portability - You have the right to ask that we transfer the information you gave us to another organisation, or to you, in certain circumstances.

You are not required to pay any charge for exercising your rights. If you make a request, we have one month to respond to you.
