Bristol churches standing together in prayer and action for the global climate crisis

June 2021 update.

We, the Presidents of Together4Bristol / Churches Together in Greater Bristol, unite in recognising the climate emergency, and we call on all churches to take further steps to care for God’s precious creation.

We recognise that the climate crisis is impacting our sisters and brothers around the world, and that the younger generation will bear the brunt of our changing climate. We stand in solidarity with them, and in determination that, together with our partners across the city, we can take strong action to decarbonise and build a brighter, greener future.

CLIMATE CHANGE IS THE ISSUE OF OUR GENERATION

There is an urgent need for action, and to challenge the status quo. Yet when we all stand together in prayer for and with God’s creation, we are filled with hope for a safer, more sustainable future

Across Bristol and it’s many communities, we share the clear challenge and concern of the climate emergency and are taking strides towards becoming net-zero carbon.

As a city, we are recognised for our environmental ambitions: from being awarded European Green Capital in 2015, to leading the world in reporting progress against the UN Sustainable Development Goals.

As churches in the city, we want to be at the forefront of this movement, both locally and alongside our global brothers and sisters in Christ. We recognise that caring for our shared earth is bigger than church traditions or divisions and, united in prayer, action and hope, we work for the coming of God’s kingdom.

With every blessing,
